Effective December 1, 2006, Stonechurch Family Health Centre at 1475 Upper Ottawa Street has been the home of the Rh Prevention Program of Hamilton. Previously this clinic was located at Canadian Blood Services.
Doctors and midwives can refer their pregnant patients with Rh negative bloodtype results for a routine 28 week injection of Rh Immune Globulin (WinRho) during their pregnancy or when a woman has a potentially sensitizing event such as bleeding during pregnancy, threatened or spontaneous abortion.
Time sensitive referrals require telephone consultation with the clinic, as clinic hours may vary.
The clinic is run by a Nurse Practitioner, with supervision from a Medical Director and a Hematology consultant at Hamilton Health Sciences .
If you have questions about this program, please discuss them with your health care provider.
For health professionals:
Please see the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada Guideline for Prevention of Rh Alloimmunization 2003 for information on potentially sensitizing events.
