McMaster Family Practice recognized by Hamilton community
Members of the Hamilton community have recognized Department of Family Medicine affiliated clinic McMaster Family Practice (MFP) as the top medical clinic in 2016 through The Hamilton Spectator’s Readers’ Choice Awards.
“As a clinical team, we take a lot of pride in our community and the patients that we work for,” says MFP Medical Director Dr. Doug Oliver. “To be recognized by members of the community is the highest honour we could imagine.”
Located in the new David Braley Health Science Centre in downtown Hamilton, MFP has been acknowledge several times in recent years for its high quality patient care: most notably for being the Ontario College of Family Physicians’ 2014 Family Practice of the Year with partner clinic Stonechurch Family Health Centre.
Oliver, who is also an associate professor in the Department of Family Medicine, credits his colleagues for MFP’s success.
“Our receptionists, support staff and interprofessional health care teams are compassionate and creative people who are committed to this community and the people we serve,” he says. “Our staff and resident physicians have a work ethic that is second-to-none and have an appreciation for the needs of both our patients and our community,” Oliver adds.
As part of the McMaster Family Health Team, MFP plays an important part in the future of our health care system. In partnership with their patients, the clinic is training the next generation of health care professionals. Resident doctors, who have completed medical school and are now finishing an additional two years in family medicine training, are a central part of the MFP team. Working with a family doctor and all members of the clinic team, resident doctors help provide the high quality of care that the Hamilton community recognized through the Readers’ Choice Awards.
